I’ve been using Soul Browser for the past couple of months mainly for its built-in video features, but recently Avast flagged it as malware. That’s made me pretty uneasy.
Are there any safer, reliable alternatives with similar capabilities?

Hi @MiroslavRalevic I have used Puffin Browser for a while when I needed something fast with solid media and video support—it’s cloud-based and performs really well in those areas. While it doesn’t always let you download videos from every site, its cloud processing makes it super fast and secure compared to traditional browsers.
It also has a built-in video player that works well for streaming. It’s not open-source, but its security-first model means it runs web content in a sandboxed environment, reducing malware risks.
Downsides? Some features are paid and certain streaming platforms block it.
My go-to combo is Via Browser paired with a lightweight video downloader like 1DM or Advanced Download Manager (ADM). Via is extremely minimal (just 1MB), private, and doesn’t hog battery or resources. It doesn’t have a built-in downloader, but its intent system integrates beautifully with download managers.
That way, I keep my browsing clean and only use the downloader when needed. It’s safer than using all-in-one solutions that may come from sketchy developers.
I use Firefox for Android along with add-ons like Video DownloadHelper or Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express. It doesn’t come pre-packed like Soul, but this setup gives me full control over what’s installed and running.
Plus, since it’s open-source and community-reviewed, I feel more confident about privacy and safety. I usually avoid niche browsers flagged by antivirus apps—especially when they come from unknown developers or ask for excessive permissions.
