What is the best website analytics platform?

Hello analytics enthusiasts!

I’m currently trying to decide on a website analytics platform to track user behavior and gather data. I’ve heard a lot about Google Analytics, which seems to be the standard, but I’m wondering if there are any other options out there that might be better or easier to use, especially for understanding user behavior.

What’s your go-to platform, and why do you prefer it over others, including Google Analytics?

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and recommendations!

Hello @mehta_tvara, weighing in on your search for a website analytics platform.

I’d recommend Google Analytics for anyone looking for a comprehensive and widely used platform.

It’s free, extremely powerful, and integrates with many other tools.

The reporting options are vast, and the audience insights it offers are invaluable.

Plus, you can track pretty much anything on your site if you’re comfortable setting up events and goals.

Hope you find this helpful! :innocent:

Hello @mehta_tvara!

@shilpa.chandel you mentioned the common one but one of the best in the market for sure. Its Google after all!!

But if you’re looking for something simpler and more visual, Hotjar is great for tracking user behavior with heatmaps, session recordings, and surveys.

It’s fantastic for understanding how visitors interact with your site, and it’s often a more intuitive option compared to Google Analytics for visual insights.

Plus, it’s great for getting qualitative feedback, not just quantitative data.

I hope this helps! Hotjar sure as hell offers great visual insights!

Hello @mehta_tvara, @shilpa.chandel and @devan-skeem – circling back to add another perspective after the insights on Google Analytics and Hotjar!

Understanding user behavior on your site is definitely crucial, and there are varying approaches to gathering that data.

For a more in-depth, data-driven platform, Matomo (formerly Piwik) is a solid choice to consider.

It’s an open-source alternative to Google Analytics, and a key benefit is that it gives you full control over your data.

If you’re particularly concerned about privacy or want more customization than Google Analytics might offer out-of-the-box, Matomo’s self-hosted version could be a better option for you.

It also supports eCommerce tracking and custom reports, making it quite versatile for different analytical needs.

Thank you. Hope this benefits you! :innocent:
