I’ve been looking into emulators and people seem to like Emudeck, but it requires supporting someone on Patreon.
I’ve also seen LaunchBox, but I know that’s more of a UI for emulators, not actually an emulator itself. I’m hoping to emulate games from systems like SNES, N64, Genesis, Switch, and more.
Can anyone point me toward the best free emulators and explain how this all works?

It supports a ton of systems like SNES, Genesis, and N64. It’s an all-in-one emulator with many cores for different consoles, and while it may have a learning curve, the community is great for troubleshooting.
I’ve used OpenEmu on macOS, and it works really well for retro systems.
It supports a bunch of consoles (SNES, Genesis, etc.) and is completely free.
The interface is clean, and it integrates games automatically into your library. It doesn’t have Switch support, but for older systems, it’s fantastic!
RPCS3 is my go-to for PS3 games, but if you’re looking for something that handles a wide range of consoles, Mednafen is another solid free emulator.
