JUnit 5 Architecture | LambdaTest

Hello there,

Watch this video on JUnit 5 Architecture and learn about its key components and how they enhance your testing strategy. Don’t miss out on this insightful overview!

In my experience, JUnit 5 introduces a new extension model that allows developers to extend the behavior of test classes or methods. This model is based on annotations and interfaces, making it easy to add custom functionality to tests, such as parameter resolution, lifecycle callbacks, and custom assertions. This flexibility empowers developers to create more robust and tailored testing solutions.

Also, JUnit 5 has introduced a new test engine responsible for discovering, executing, and reporting on tests. This engine is modular and extensible, allowing developers to create custom test engines tailored to specific testing frameworks or environments.

Sharing a bit of my learning as well, JUnit 5 is designed to run on the Java 8 platform and above, with support for Java 9 modules. It is also designed to be compatible with existing JUnit 4 tests, allowing for a smooth transition to the new framework.
