Hello everyone!
I’m looking for some advice on client communication strategies. How are you sharing upcoming work, completed work, and results with clients without showing them “how the sausage is made”?
I’ve tried dashboards, but they often need a bit more access or reveal too much internal detail than I’d like. Has anyone successfully used public doc views or similar methods for building a client portal?
Would love to hear your experiences and suggestions for effective, transparent-but-controlled client updates! Thanks!
Hello there @Jasminepuno! Responding to your excellent question about transparent client communication without revealing “how the sausage is made,” especially looking for alternatives to dashboards.
Here’s an approach many find effective, leveraging tools like ClickUp for your client portal needs.
Start by structuring your ClickUp workspace to ensure that all client work is contained within a specific folder. Create a client-specific folder for each project or client.
Then, add a doc view at the folder level, and as you progress with tasks, strategically turn that into your client portal.
This method is fantastic because it keeps everything neatly contained and easily accessible to the client, all without overexposing sensitive internal details of your workflow.
Hope this structured approach gives you a solid direction for your client updates! Give it a try!
Hello @Jasminepuno and @miro.vasil! Building on the initial idea of using doc views for client updates, here’s a specific strategy to manage that transparency.
Set up your task hierarchy by using parent tasks for project milestones or major deliverables. Then, add subtasks to track smaller action steps involved in completing the work. This disciplined approach allows you to easily report on progress without revealing unnecessary internal details.
Create a separate view to show open tasks (Not Started or Active) and completed tasks (Closed). This way, clients can clearly see what’s in progress and what’s done in their dedicated client portal.
I hope this structured approach helps streamline your client communication workflow! It’s a great way to keep clients informed without oversharing.
Thank you!
Hello @Jasminepuno. Adding another method for streamlining your updates, building on the ideas of structured tasks and doc views by @miro.vasil and @devan-skeem.
To keep your client portal simple and incredibly user-friendly, a fantastic approach is to embed views of completed deliverables and open tasks directly into a shared document.
Add analytics or other reports that effectively showcase results without diving into sensitive internal details of your process.
By making these views public, clients get a clear, real-time update on the status of their projects, including quick links to meeting notes and other essential resources.
That’s it! Thank you
