I just noticed a free Nitro trial offer pop up on my PC (dated 2/24/2024), but I couldn’t find the same offer on mobile.
The last time I got a trial like this was maybe a year or two ago, so it caught me by surprise.
I’m curious, how frequently does Discord hand out these free trial offers?
Has anyone else received one recently, or is this a rare thing?
From what I’ve seen (and from chatting with friends), Discord tends to roll out free Nitro trials sporadically, often based on engagement things like active usage, server participation, or gaps since your last trial.
I got one about a year ago during a reactivation wave for dormant users, then another this February when I logged in after a long break.
The fact it showed up on PC but not mobile suggests it’s also platform-targeted.
So don’t expect a regular schedule, just pop-ups when Discord deems you “worthy” of a nudge.
@sndhu.rani I’ve tracked Nitro trials a bit, and it looks like Discord ties them to promotional campaigns or partnerships.
For instance, users mention trials coming after subscribing to services like Xbox Game Pass, buying select hardware, or joining events.
A year ago I got one after redeeming a key through a PSN bonus; recently another came via Discord’s developer event email.
These are time-limited and invite-only, so two trials in your case could mean you hit their criteria twice.
If you’ve engaged with partner campaigns, you’re more likely to get it.
After working in Discord communities for years, I’ve seen Nitro trials really only show up every 12–18 months per user.
Anecdotally, Discord seems to cap users at a couple of trials in their lifetime, mostly for re-engagement or promotional reminders.
People who remain subscribed (or never unsubscribed) almost never get another free offer.
But if you canceled long ago, chances are Discord will send you another surprise offer, even if it’s informal and unadvertised, like your 2/24/2024 pop-up.
So yes, it’s rare, but not one-and-done.
