Bruno vs. Postman – Which One Do You Prefer?

I’ve been testing out Bruno as a lightweight Postman alternative, but I’m still on the fence. It’s fast, but I feel like it’s missing some features. Has anyone fully switched from Postman to Bruno, or do you use something else?

Bruno is gaining traction as a lightweight alternative to Postman, especially for those looking for an open-source, offline-first API client. It’s fast and simple but lacks some advanced features like cloud sync, team collaboration, and built-in testing frameworks that Postman offers.

If you need a more feature-rich alternative, you might consider:

:small_blue_diamond: Hoppscotch – Open-source, browser-based, and lightweight

:small_blue_diamond: Insomnia – Focuses on REST & GraphQL with great testing support

:small_blue_diamond: Thunder Client – A VS Code extension for API testing

Have you noticed any specific missing features in Bruno that are deal-breakers for you?

I’ve been in your exact situation. Bruno is super fast but definitely has some limitations compared to Postman.

After trying both extensively, here’s my take:

Bruno pros: Lightning fast, works offline, open-source, Git-friendly storage format, no account needed

Bruno cons: Basic UI, limited scripting options, fewer extensions, smaller community

Have you tried Apidog? It’s become my go-to solution. It hits a sweet spot between Bruno’s simplicity and Postman’s features without the annoying restrictions. The interface is cleaner, collaboration is better, and it has robust testing tools that Bruno lacks.

I’ve actually stopped using Postman completely. For quick tests I use Bruno, and for team projects or complex API work, Apidog handles everything I need.

What specific features are you missing most from Postman? That might help narrow down if Bruno+Apidog is the right combo for you too.
