Ideally, I want a tool that’s accurate, easy to use, and doesn’t require a paid license. Bonus if it includes GPU, CPU, and real-time FPS tracking. What do you guys use for testing or comparing gaming performance?
I’ve had solid success with MSI Afterburner paired with RivaTuner Statistics Server. It’s completely free and gives you real-time FPS, GPU/CPU usage, temperatures, and more, overlaid while gaming.
It’s not a synthetic benchmark, but for real-world gaming performance testing, it’s my go-to. You can monitor how your system behaves under actual load, tweak settings, and immediately see the impact.
If you’re looking for a structured benchmark with scores, try UNIGINE Heaven or Superposition. They simulate intense graphical scenarios and give you a performance score at the end, making it easy to compare setups.
I’ve used Heaven for years - it’s free, looks good even on older machines, and great for testing GPU stability after overclocking. Superposition is newer and a bit more demanding but still free for personal use.
