Are there any Chrome extensions that replicate Firefox’s Tree Style Tab with auto tab grouping and collapsible trees?

I’ve been using Firefox’s Tree Style Tab and it’s been a huge productivity booster—especially the way it automatically nests new tabs under their parent and allows for collapsible tab groups. I’ve tried a few Chrome alternatives but they felt clunky or lacked key features.

Has anyone found a Chrome extension that truly captures the functionality and smooth workflow of Tree Style Tab? Automatic grouping, collapsibility, and decent UX are a must. Would love recommendations if something solid exists!

Yeah, I feel that! After switching to Chrome, I also searched for Chrome extensions that replicate Firefox’s Tree Style Tab. I’ve been using Sidewise Tree Style Tabs for a while. It hasn’t been updated in a while, but it still gets the job done. It opens a side panel in a separate window where you can create a tab hierarchy. The auto-grouping feature is pretty hit or miss though, you’ll often find yourself manually moving tabs to keep things organized.

The user experience isn’t as smooth as what Firefox offers, and honestly, Chrome just doesn’t give you the same level of tab control. But for now, it’s the best I’ve been able to find.

Ah, I’ve been there too! Switching from Firefox was definitely a challenge. What worked for me, at least as a workaround, was combining Tab Manager Plus with Workona. It’s not quite the tree view you’re used to, but it does help organize your tabs in a way that’s manageable. It’s not perfect, but it’s a decent solution.

Honestly, I don’t think we’ll get a true Chrome extension that replicates Firefox’s Tree Style Tab until Chrome’s extension APIs allow for more control over tab structures. For now, I’m afraid Firefox still holds the crown for this feature.
